SCHULZ MUSIC STUDIO POLICY 2024

As life gets complicated, creating successful and fulfilling music studies depends on regular commitment.  I’ve designed my policies to give you as much flexibility as possible while still promoting consistency.

I reserve lesson times in my schedule, plan for student’s lessons, and invest in long-term development of each student.  To provide regular, quality lessons, the following policies need to be observed. If you have questions regarding my policies, please contact me.

MONTHLY UPDATES

  1. I will send out monthly notices/emails at the beginning of each month and ask for any changes in student’s schedules.  Please look at your schedule and respond with any changes, if you have any.  These changes will be reflected in your monthly invoice as soon as I hear from you.

  2. If a lesson falls on a holiday, we can arrange for an alternative lesson time or cancel the lesson.

TUITION

  1. Paying tuition guarantees a regular weekly lesson time in my teaching schedule as well as my professional services.

  2. Tuition payments are billed monthly in advance of scheduled lessons and are due in full by the 1st lesson of the month. I will send out invoices at the beginning of the month.

  3. Payments are made through either Zelle or Venmo.

  4. No refunds, credits or discounts will be given once tuition is paid. The only exception is if I am sick or need to cancel the lesson. In this case, the student will receive a credit in the next billing cycle.

  5. Any last minute cancellations, especially on the day of the lesson, will be charged and is not refundable.

ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS (online lessons)

  1. Students are expected to be punctual to their weekly lessons.  If you are running late, please send me a text to let me know as soon as possible before our lesson begins.

  2. After 5 minutes I will text the student or parent and the student will not get the full allotted lesson time.  Since many lessons are scheduled back to back, lessons will end at the time the next student's lesson is scheduled to begin.

  3. If I don’t hear from the student or parent after 10 minutes, I will sign off from our lesson and the time and tuition for that lesson will be forfeited.

ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS (in-person lessons)

  1. In the event an in-person lesson needs to be canceled or rescheduled, I will need 24 hours notice before the lesson.

  2. If there is an emergency, and 24 hours notice is not possible, please text me as soon as you are able, preferably before either of us has left for the lesson.

  3. If a student or someone in the house is sick, please let me know as soon as possible.  We can transfer the lesson online or reschedule.

MISSED LESSONS AND MAKEUP LESSONS

  1. No tuition credit or refunds will be provided for missed lessons/no shows.

  2. Makeup lessons will be issued only when a lesson is canceled with at least 24-hours advance notice by texting me so I have a record of your cancellation.

  3. Makeup lessons need to be scheduled within 30 days.  After 30 days the makeup will expire.  I will reach out to the student to schedule a makeup lesson, but it is the student’s responsibility to reschedule and makeup the lesson.

  4. Once a makeup lesson is scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled.

  5. Lessons canceled by myself for personal or health reasons are guaranteed a makeup lesson.

SICKNESS AND COVID

  1. If a student is sick, please notify me as soon as possible.  We can figure out a time to reschedule within 30 days once the student feels better.

  2. For in-person lessons, I will still check in to make sure everyone in the house is healthy.  If anyone is sick/has COVID, please let me know as soon as possible so we can switch to remote lessons or reschedule.

LESSON TERMINATION

In the event a student wants to discontinue lessons, I require 30 days notice before the last lesson to process the transition and offer their time to a new student.  If notice is given less than 30 days before the last lesson/next billing cycle, it is understood that you will also pay for the last month of lessons.

Policy effective upon enrollment.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.  Policies and terms are subject to change.
